I qualified in 2005 from the University of Cambridge and am a member of Lincoln’s Inn. After spending three and a half years as a Senior Crown Prosecutor, I gained an unprecedented insight into the tactics of the other side.
Now, as an independent Direct Access Barrister, I am beholden to no one. What is a "Direct Access" Barrister?
Historically, members of the public had to hire a solicitor, who would then instruct a barrister on their behalf. Under the Direct Access Scheme, you can now instruct me directly. This completely cuts out the middleman, saving you significant time and solicitor fees.
Why should I choose you over a traditional high street solicitor?
As a former Senior Crown Prosecutor, I possess an insider’s understanding of how the prosecution builds its cases—and how to dismantle them. Furthermore, because you deal directly with me, you avoid the heavy overheads of a traditional solicitor’s firm and get an unfiltered line of communication to the expert actually fighting your case in court.
How do your fees work? Are there hidden costs?
I believe in complete transparency. I operate on a fixed-fee basis, meaning we agree upon the cost for each stage of work in advance. There are no hidden fees, no unexpected hourly billing, and no middleman mark-ups.
Do I have to be located in London for you to represent me?
Not at all. While my chambers are located in Sloane Square, London, I provide nationwide coverage. I regularly travel to represent clients in Magistrates’ and Crown Courts all across the country.
What happens if I am facing an immediate driving ban (Totting Up)?
If you accumulate 12 or more penalty points, you face an automatic minimum 6-month disqualification. However, I specialise in presenting “Exceptional Hardship” arguments to the court. If successful, this can allow you to keep your driving licence and protect your livelihood, even with 12 points.
Will I always deal with you directly?
Yes. When you instruct me, your case becomes my responsibility. You will not be passed off to a junior associate or paralegal. I often work late and keep my phone on for my clients, ensuring you get the direct, pragmatic advice you need, when you need it.
